The Free Dessie O'Hare Campaign

Denied His Democratic Right To Freedom

Dessie O'Hare recently failed in his high court bid for early release under the Good FrIday Agreement. This is despite the fact that justice minister John O'Donoghue has already acknowledged publicly that Dessie qualifies as an early release Prisoner. The Good Friday Agreement which the vast majority of people voted in favour of states that prisoners whose organisations are on a recognised cease-fire would benefit from the early release scheme.

Dessie O'Hare is commanding officer of the I.N.L.A in Portlaoise Prison, an Organisation currently maintaining a recognised cease-fire, Therefore he must qualify for early release. While we the Irish Republician Socialist Party are against the mechanics of most of the text contained in the G.F.A., we do respect the wishes of the vast majority of the Irish people who voted in favour of that same agreement, and by supporting the widening call for qualifying Political Prisoner Dessie O'Hare to be released will be your way of telling those who are charged with enacting the Agreement in its entirety to do likewise and acknowledge the democratic will of the people and release Dessie O'Hare immediately.
