Press release from IRSP spokesperson Fra Halligan:
"Without doubt the IRSP are the largest Republican Socialist group in opposition to the so-called 'Good Friday agreement'. We have also been running a countrywide poster and leaflet campaign urging a 'No' vote. "Yet, if media coverage is to be believed, opposition is either of the DUP/UKU variety or hardly at all. To all intents and purposes opposition to this agreement from the republican camp, if mentioned at all, comes by way of interview from Athlone by RSF chief Ruairi O' Bradaigh. "Attempts to marginalise our political position through ignoring our press releases and refusing a platform to our spokespersons will be only of short term benefit to the pacification process. We will be here organising and agitating for British disengagement and real Irish self-determination long after this 'agreement' has been consigned to the rubbish bin of history. "The Irish Republican Socialist Movement are a constituent part of the conflict in this country and between these islands. While Britain maintains military and political jurisdiction over the six-counties this will continue to be the case. We will remain a growing and vibrant opposition to this deal in spite of draconian threats from Blair and Ahern." |
