The ongoing siege of the Nationalist working class community in Portadown is an inevitable outcome of the failure of the "agreement" to protect the rights of nationalists.
Irish Republican Socialist Party Ard Comhairle (national executive) representative Jimmy Bradley said: "for weeks now the IRSP have been warning of the plight of the Nationalist community in Portadown. In the carnival of chaos that constituted the three-ring circus of the Clinton visit and the 'will they/won't they shake hands' nonsense of the assembly, these warnings were ignored. "The IRSP objections to the agreement are based in the fact that it does not address the core issues, the actions of the Loyalists/Unionists in Portadown, and the failure of the agreement to protect the Nationalist community stands as a testament to that failure." The IRSP are demanding the immediate lifting of the siege of the Nationalist community in Portadown. |
