IRSP In Support of Seamus Doherty & His Family
20 October 2004

The Irish Republican Socialist Party calls on all republicans to show solidarity with Seamus Doherty and his family by attending and supporting Saturday's march which is being organised by the Free Seamus Doherty Campaign.

Seamus Doherty has been incarcerated in Maghaberry in trumped up charges since June 2003. One of the RUC/PSNI men who was instrumental in bringing charges upon Seamus is now himself under investigation by the Police Ombudsman.

The IRSP has been campaigning with the IRPWA, 32CSM and Seamus' family and friends on the issue of Seamus' continued unlawful imprisonment. We call on all our supporters and members of the wider republican and nationalist community and all those genuinely interested in civil rights to make an effort on Saturday to come onto the streets and support the campaign for Seamus' unconditional release.

This ongoing situation highlights the fact that the six county state cannot be reformed into something that is acceptable to the working class people of the North. This rotten state has used internment in the past, at least then they called it internment. Now they do not even have the honesty to do that.
